Toxic Mold

There have been increasing reports of adverse health effects which were ultimately traced to the growth of mold in the buildings where people work and live. There are varied causes for this toxic mold syndrome, including design and construction flaws and building product failures and inadequate ventilation. Our firm is handling mold litigation against various responsible parties.

For instance, recently a high school was forced to shut down when respiratory problems among students and faculty were attributed to the fungus Stachybotrys - a greenish-black mold - which was found growing on wet wallboard.

Due to our expertise in litigation involving defective building products (including phenolic foam roof insulation, zonolite attic insulation, asphalt fiberglass shingles and hardboard siding) we have been asked to handle mold litigation involving mold growth caused or facilitated by poorly designed or manufactured building products. Building products must be designed and installed to reflect the fact that moisture naturally cycles through every building system. Unfortunately, many new building products are put out on the market without adequate testing, with unforeseen consequences.

Toxic mold litigation can be factually complex due to complicated causation and responsible party issues.

If you own, work or live in a building with a mold problem, or believe you have "sick building syndrome", please contact us for a free initial evaluation of your case.
